The Cigar Box ?

Why has the industry accepted the word “cigar box”?
The word “box” in cigar lingo has been bothering me for some time because I associate it with a cardboard or wooden box. To me and Vicente Team, these bland terms render the luster of the products dull especially within the cigar industry of such sophistication and class. Just seems like a complete contradiction between culture and product. Again, another aspect of the industry typically overlooked due to the continual rhythm of repetition.
I would venture to say the term “Cigar Box” has just been one of those descriptions that really has never been given much relevance within the industry. Yes, some brands have termed their cigar boxes as “piano boxes” but then this term also seems disjointed to me.
Why use the term “piano” ? There is no piano accompanying the product. But rather from what I have gather, the term “piano box” is only specific to the polished clear coat and veneer finish of the cigar box façade which mimics that of a piano finish.
What are the actual functions of the cigar box?
We can all agree that the main functions of the cigar box are for marketing, transportation, and potential storage of the cigars.
When you are looking to buy and to try a new cigar, you’re not thinking about transportation or storage. You, as the consumer, most likely are looking simultaneously at the box, the bands, and the tobacco size and textures. The reality is you are being drawn to a myriad of visuals to capture your attention to complete your task.
And in the end, you can clearly see the marketing aspect of the brands. Cheaper cigars have cheaper boxes, wood and paper products. And the more expensive cigars have more sophisticated looking designs or piano boxes signaling to you that the product inside is also a better product with potentially a less affordable price. And for certain, the brand better be confident that the cigars inside stand up to the quality and elegance of the box.
What does it actually mean to you?
Vicente cannot dictate or force anyone to agree with our observations and opinions, however, we can try to educate you just by asking the simply questions of which we all have taken for granted during the tenure of the smoking careers.
Some consumers like simplicity with more affordable cigars, other only prefer the more expensive brands, while others really do not care about all of these complications of dissecting the cigar terms.
For me and Vicente, I was doing nothing more than providing my opinion on questions I have asked myself many times as well as other aficionados through the years, all of whom eventually become amazed at the power of learning, the aspects of an industry we have always taken for granted and never really thought in such depth of details. The industry typically just focuses on the cigars but, again, Vicente demands a focus be placed on every aspect of our company with transparency. Because without transparency, we cannot help to educate.

My vision for the Vicente Vaults is in line with all other aspects of our Life Style Brand. I truly believe the “cigar box” should be an integral part of Vicente Blends’ culture and quality and this is why we have invested a tremendous amount of time in creating the Vicente Vaults.
Vaults, typically rooms securing treasures, is a chosen term for Vicente because we believe no matter the size of the space required, it is about protecting the rare masterpieces inside.
Our cigar vaults have been designed meticulously to symbolize the preciousness of the cargo they store. And have been engineered within perfect tolerances to properly transport and store all of our precious blends.
Upon first glance you will see very basic and simple colors including our enhanced text all protected with our mirror finished facades.
Upon opening one of our vaults, you must first press a button to unlock the lid.
As you opening the Vicente Vault, your visual and smell senses are elevated immediately. You will immediately see your cigar masterpieces adorned with a ring nestled into a suave holder supporting every Vicente cigar perfectly. Simultaneously, your sense of smell will be infiltrated with the scent of Spanish cedar mixed with the unprecedented aroma of our cigars.
And the when the Vicente Vault is fully open, your eyes will then be drawn to the polished Vicente Bullions perfectly located and describing your Vicente Blends puros or cigars.
Finally, once you are able to focus on other details of our Vaults, you will notice the subtleties of our polished corner legs and the elegance of our text descriptions, as well as a personal Vicente autograph on the back of our Vault symbolizing the rarity of every Vault and the cigars inside.
